St Paddys Petillo Acoustic

Happy St. Patrick’s Day 2021! A round of pics of our longtime friend Joe Finn’s custom made PETILLO acoustic guitar made in 1994, serial #679! Joe was a close friend to my Dad (Dr. Phil Petillo) and myself. Joe was known around the Jersey Shore as “The Irish Balladeer” and he had such a rich old world voice. This guitar now belongs to Joe’s grandson John Maniace who is a young finger-picking guitar player/songwriter. The body sparkle burst was designed after the flag of Ireland for Joe’s Irish roots. The sides of the guitar are solid east Indian rosewood and the back is Malaysian rosewood. Check out the color difference in the two different species of rosewood. The bridge and fingerboard are rare Nigerian ebony with clover inlays and strip inlay designs on the bridge wings. The front of the headstock is German flame maple 1/8′ thick overlay dyed Irish green faded into the natural maple grain on an Amazon mahogany neck. The headstock shape was designed by my Dad. This design he came up with was influenced by Victorian era art. The neck is a solid piece of rare Amazon mahogany with a quilted French walnut back headstock overlay. At the bottom of the walnut veneer overlay shows a three tone dark green, light green and white stinger. The neck heel also has a stinger that outlines the top of the heel and if you look closely you’ll see a triangle design inside the framing of the stinger. The tuning keys are gold mini Grover tuners.Check out all the pics!
