This was a project that took a while. The guitar was built for Mike Flynn, a blues/fusion guitarist who has played all over the Jersey Shore and is currently on tour. Mike and I spoke for hours about the overall tone of this instrument as well as the lacquer thickness and cavity depth. The neck size is the thickest I have ever made, it came out to being close to 1 inch behind the nut. The neck shape was a deep round V size with the widest and tallest jumbo nickel frets installed. The materials used are not available anywhere in the world due to their age and quality. The body is a 253 year old one piece American curly/tiger stripe maple. The neck is one piece quilted German maple. The fingerboard is a 3/16 thick piece of Brazilian Rosewood, the same grain and color Brazilian that was used on the original vintage Fender guitars and the Guild Starfire models. The face and side dots are thick white Mother of Pearl. I matched the color of the fingerboard with the Brazilian Rosewood vibrato and electronic back covers. The hardware is all nickel. The pickups are custom Lindy Fralin’s, Kluson tuners, neck plate with the birth year stamping of Mike’s parents, 250k potted cts pots, 5 way switch, custom vibrato with deep/thick string block, military grade nylon wires, electrosocket with switchcraft jack and a tall petrified Woolly Mammoth ivory nut. The sunburst finish is a 3-tone transition of black, amber and vintage honey tint like the original vintage Fenders. One of the most difficult parts besides the construction and finish was the Petillo logo made out of gold foil with a black shadow outline. I hope you all enjoy the photos
