Takamine Custom Modified

This was a long project because I have never used Sterling Silver foil in such large pieces. The reason Sterling Silver foil was used is because I wanted to give the guitar a feminine, passionate look, but not too girly cute. In the ever-changing world we live in, getting sea shells and scarce exotic materials is getting to be very difficult, due to government regulations, oil spills, and waste dumping. This is why I have turned to very thin metal foils with very detailed engravings. In my opinion it is the future for my art form. I have also used Liver of Sulphur to give all the foils a faded patina; also look for copper and gold foils within my art work. The fingerboard inlays of flowers, intertwining vines, butterflies and leaves are made of Rainbow Abalone, Gold, White Mother of Pearl sea shells, Sterling Silver, Copper, 24k Gold and stone. The entire guitar was refinished. Finishes take so long to get the correct chemical bond of the lacquer. Since Takamine guitars are made overseas they have different environmental regulations but with careful planning and the correct solvents the bond can be glossy and perfect. The frets in the guitar are our Petillo Triangle Frets. I hope you enjoy the work and have a wonderful Fall season.
